What does a hunt pack contain?

When you purchase a hunt, your hunt pack will be sent directly to the email address you provide. You will receive full instructions and the hunt itself.

And what does the hunt itself contain?

Each hunt is a series of interwoven clues and puzzles leading you from landmark to hidden gem across a specific area of London. Along with the clues, each hunt is bursting with information to help you get to grips with the area you're exploring. This can be anything from historical biography to spooky stories and oddball facts. The hunts are also clearly laid out and fully illustrated. You can see an example for our South Bank hunt, or on the individual hunt pages.

Do I need a map?

All hunts come with full instructions and directions, so you should have no problem navigating the streets of London. However, those unfamiliar with the city may find a map useful.

Will I need to pay anything further en route?

All London Treasure Hunts are designed so that no entry fees are required for any of the stops. The hunts do occasionally go past famous landmarks which require an entrance fee, and these will always be highlighted for you. However, you will never be required to enter a paid attraction to complete the hunt.

Are the hunts only available via email?

Email is our preferred delivery service as it reduces waste and allows us to offer you a faster, cheaper service. If you would like to receive your hunt in another way then do contact us. Please note an extra charge may be incurred for this.

What if we get a question wrong?

A wrong answer at one point in the hunt may make it more difficult for you to get through a later bit that refers back to it, but can't do any worse than slowing you down – you'll always be able to find a way through to the end.

And what if we get stuck?

There are no rules, so be as creative as you like in tracking down that tricky answer. Phone a friend, text the question to your favourite answering service, ask a passing policeman or gallery attendant. Anything goes.

Can you guarantee our personal safety?

London Treasure Hunts cannot take responsibility for your personal safety on the walks. However, all hunts have been designed with safety in mind.

Are the hunts an all-weather activity?

Yes, although we would suggest checking the weather forecast and dressing appropriately.

Are the hunts up-to-date?

Part of London's charm is its fast-moving nature. We make every effort to keep an ear to the ground and update the hunts continuously, but just occasionally something might change without us noticing straight away. We're always keen to hear of anything we've missed.

Corporate Hunts
What is included in a corporate hunt package?

Your initial quote will include the cost of researching, designing and printing the hunt, plus the presence of a London Treasure Hunts team member on-site for your event to brief teams, collate scores and administer any additional activities. The cost also includes the provision of everything you need on the day such as pens, certificates and additional materials required to complete the hunt. For groups of 50 or more, this cost will be for two people to manage your event.

We're on a tight budget for a small group - can we just run the event ourselves?

Absolutely, we can provide a design only package for a reduced cost. You would still receive a personalised hunt and certificates, but these would be in PDF format for printing in your own time. We also provide full instructions for how to self-manage the event.

We want to end in a restaurant, can you recommend or book this for us?

London Treasure Hunts is not able to recommend or book any events taking place around a treasure hunt; however, we are happy to liaise with your chosen venue to ensure a seamless corporate day out.

What sort of notice do you need?

For any form of bespoke route we ask for 8 weeks' notice ideally; however, should you have a more urgent requirement please do contact us and we will see what is possible within your timeframes.

Do we need to do anything prior to the event day?

For bespoke packages you'll need to fill out a questionnaire about your company and the team's taking part so we can best personalise your route. Many organisations also like to place participants into teams before the event itself, to ensure a good mix and save time on the day; however this is by no means essential and we can randomly assign teams on the day if required, just let us know!

Otherwise, we ask that you advise all participants to dress comfortably for the weather conditions and wear sensible shoes.

Aah yes, the British weather. What if it is against us?

We run the hunts in all weathers. Should you be running a self-managed event and you wish to postpone due to the weather, you will be able to do so if you wish; however, some clues are designed to be appropriate on a certain day and time, which may no longer apply if the hunt is delayed.

If you have an on-site service booked and wish to move your event, we require at least 72 hours notice to change a booking. Under no circumstances are we able to offer partial or full refunds due to events being affected by weather conditions.

How about a smartphone hunt?

At the moment all our personalised packages are designed to be printed and used in traditional formats only. We've got some boffins working on this and will update these pages as soon as we have any news.

Can you guarantee our personal safety?

London Treasure Hunts cannot take responsibility for your personal safety on any hunt route. However, all hunts have been designed with safety in mind and safe road crossings etc. are highlighted within the route.

What happens to the personal data you collect?

On the day we will ask one member of each team to leave a mobile phone number with us, which is stored in an offline document on a single device. This enables us to keep contact with teams as they move through the City, should the need arise. Following the event, this data is deleted from our system.

How can we pay?

Our preferred method of payment is by bank transfer and full details of this will appear on your invoice. We ask for a 50% deposit to confirm your event date and begin design, with the additional 50% paid on delivery.

We'd rather not have one of our group doing admin on the day. Can you help?

Absolutely, we can send one of our team members on-site for your event to provide a briefing, collate scoring and any other admin that may be required on the day. This is at an additional cost, which we will confirm in your original quote.

We have a theme for our hen/stag/birthday party, can you include it?

YES! Alongside personalised clues, we've written hunts themed on subjects including the 80s, chocolate, mosquitoes, literature and architecture.

Can we use multi-media clues?

We have previously worked with our clients to design and incorporate video clues and are happy to discuss this with those interested. We are able to write the scripts for the clues and design them into the hunt, but the actual filming and display on the day is the responsibility of the client. We can also provide photo trails for the event if required.

Vouchers

Do the vouchers have an expiry date?

No. Once bought vouchers are valid indefinitely and can be redeemed at any time via our website.

Will the recipient have anything further to pay?

No. All our hunts are designed to be free to complete once the pack is bought. This means no entry fees and no public transport within the hunt route itself. The only expense your recipient may incur will be for their transport to and from the hunt route.

Can vouchers be redeemed against any purchase?

No. Each voucher can be redeemed for one of our pre-written routes as shown on our website. Vouchers can not be used as part payment for any personalised or corporate route.

How many people are covered by one voucher?

Our pre-written routes are designed for use by private groups of up to six people. These restrictions also apply to our gift vouchers. Should you wish to purchase a voucher for a larger group - perhaps as part of a family gathering or group celebration - please contact us with your request.

Can you offer a refund for gift vouchers?

No, we are not able to refund gift vouchers. The vouchers have no expiry date and are transferable, offering complete flexibility for the purchaser and the recipient.

Are the vouchers personalised?

Each voucher has space to provide your own personal message alongside a To and From section. They are not personalised by London Hunts as this would delay the delivery of the voucher. If you would like something more personal please contact us to discuss your requirements.

We're looking for donations for a charity raffle, can we use your gift vouchers?

We do work with numerous charities and have previously donated vouchers as prizes where appropriate. We are limited in the number of times we can do this per year but are happy to consider any requests. If you are from a registered charity, please do contact us to discuss your requirements.

Will the voucher be valid against future hunts?

Yes. The voucher will be valid against any pre-written hunt that is for sale on our website, both at the time of purchase and subsequent routes added to the site. It is also protected against any price rises which may occur in the future.
